Stan Smith, Assistant Principal Cornet
 

Stan Smith is the former principal trumpet of the Lyric Opera orchestra. He has performed with the Kansas City Symphony, Camerata and Starlight Theater Orchestras and is a frequent soloist in the area. Mr. Smith has served as principal trumpet of the World Festival Orchestra, Yellowstone Symphony and for the past three seasons as a member of the Crested Butte Music Festival Orchestra. Mr. Smith has played under the batons of Raymond Leppard, Aaron Copeland, Maurice Peress, William Schumann and Harold Faberman. Mr. Smith has been featured in publications in Great Britain for Smith-Watkin’s Cornets of London. He has recorded with the Triology Big Band and Musica Sacra Orchestra. Mr. Smith also recorded the music for the “Dancing Waters” show at Crown Center and served as music director for the recording. A founding member of the Kansas City BrassWorks quintet and a "Who's Who" educator, Mr. Smith conducts workshops on chamber music and brass performance. As a freelance artist, he has shared the stage with Sarah Vaughn, the O-Jay’s, Barry Manilow, the Moody Blues, Manheim Steamroller and Johnny Mathis to name a few.
