Matthew Vangjel is currently a doctoral student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He holds Masters degrees in performance and chamber music from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a Bachelor of Music Education from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Matthew is an active performer and teacher and is currently getting settled in Kansas City, MO.

Matt was a former member of the James Madison University Brass Band, and played flugel for the band for over two years. Matt was a back-to-back winner of the High Brass Slow Melody Solo Competition at the NABBA conventions in 2003 and 2004. Matt is very excited about playing with the Fountain City Brass Band.
