AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

ACADEMY BAND – Ages 24 and under

SCALES
Brass: Ascending and descending chromatic scale from your lowest to highest comfortable note.
Percussion: Eb & A major scales

LYRICAL SKILLS (Brass Players only)
Students must perform the set work Scarborough Fair

PREPARED PIECE
Students are asked to perform all or part(s) of a solo or etude that best demonstrates their playing proficiency. The piece, or excerpt(s) should last no longer than 5 minutes. For this competitive group it is advised that students do not play marching or pep band music, as this doesn’t always demonstrate the required musicality, range or technique.

Percussionists should be prepared to perform on at least three of the following instruments: Keyboard Percussion, Snare, Timpani, and Drum Set.

HONOR BAND – Age Range TBA

SCALES

JUNIOR BAND – Ages 16 and under, with at least two years of playing experience.

BEGINNING BAND – Any age and ability (Brass players only)
