Douglas Lindsey, DMA, is a distinguished trumpet performer, conductor, and educator, renowned for his extensive contributions to the North American brass band scene. As the recently elected Vice President of the North American Brass Band Association (NABBA, 2025–Present), Lindsey plays a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s mission to promote and elevate brass band artistry across the continent. He previously served as NABBA’s Secretary (2023–2025) and has been a Board Member since 2021, demonstrating his longstanding commitment to the brass band community.

As a performer, Douglas Lindsey has achieved remarkable success with leading brass bands, holding principal cornet roles with the Fountain City Brass Band and Georgia Brass Band. His national competitive highlights include winning the 2025 North American Brass Band Championship with Fountain City Brass Band as principal cornet, securing a runner-up position in 2024, and earning first place at the US Open National Brass Band Competition (2016, 2019, 2021). Internationally, he has competed with Fountain City Brass Band at prestigious events such as Brass in Concert (Newcastle, England; 2017, 2018, 2023) and the Scottish Open (Perth, Scotland; 2017), achieving notable placements, including a 2nd-place finish at Brass in Concert in 2017. Lindsey’s virtuosic solo performances with brass bands showcase an eclectic repertoire, including Napoli, Flowerdale, Quicksilver, Song and Dance, Live and Let Die, and Call of the Cossacks. His artistry was further distinguished by receiving the 2023 NABBA High Brass Technical Cornet Award.

As Artistic Director of the Frontier Brass Band, Lindsey has led the ensemble to critical acclaim, earning Outstanding Conductor Awards at the US Masters Competition in 2023 and 2024. His leadership has shaped memorable performances, including Ad Astra (2025), Myths and Legends (2024), and the band’s championship wins at the US Masters Competition (2023 and 2024). His clinics on conducting and leading brass bands, presented at the North American Brass Band Festival (2025), underscore his expertise in fostering ensemble excellence. Lindsey combines technical brilliance with a passion for brass band artistry, making him a leading figure in the North American brass band movement.

An Assistant Professor of Trumpet at the University of Oklahoma, Lindsey also serves as Coordinator of the Brass Area, where he nurtures the next generation of brass musicians.
