Fountain City Brass Band Joins Lee’s Summit Symphony for Ignite! Dance on Fire
Fountain City Brass Band is excited to join the Lee’s Summit Symphony Orchestra for its 2026–27 season-opening concert, Ignite! Dance on Fire, on Saturday, October 10, at 7:00 PM.
Under the direction of Music Director Kirt Mosier, the Lee’s Summit Symphony will launch its new season with an energetic program inspired by dance, featuring music that crosses cultures, continents, and musical styles.
The evening’s program includes Johnny Richards’ “La Suerte de los Tontos” from Cuban Fire Suite, Arturo Márquez’s exhilarating La Conga del Fuego Nuevo, Jerry Bock’s Symphonic Dances from Fiddler on the Roof arranged by Ira Hearshen, Robert Sheldon’s Danzas Cubanas, and Kirt Mosier’s own arrangement of “Dance of the Gypsy,” along with additional surprises.
Fountain City Brass Band Takes the Stage
Fountain City Brass Band will be featured during the concert with selections showcasing the power, virtuosity, and unmistakable sound of the British-style brass band.
The collaboration culminates in a spectacular finale as Fountain City Brass Band joins forces with the full Lee’s Summit Symphony Orchestra for a brand-new arrangement of Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Dance of the Tumblers.”
Bringing the two ensembles together promises to create a massive musical finish and a rare opportunity to hear the colors of a full symphony orchestra and brass band combined on one stage.
For Fountain City, the concert is also a wonderful opportunity to perform for our friends and neighbors in the Lee’s Summit community and to introduce new listeners to the excitement of brass band music.
